Hello, lovely friends!
One of my very favorite events for antique shopping is at the Greenmeade antique flea market in Livonia, Michigan. It's held on the first weekend in June and September. I now save a lot of pennies for this event!
Greenmeade Park is a historical farm complex, village, and also a picnic facility. Many old buildings have been preserved and put on this spot of 95 acres of land.
Newburgh Methodist Church ~ built in 1848
This church is beautiful inside as well!
So for the flea market, booths are set up all around the village. It's a lot of walking but well worth it. The prices are very reasonable! The sellers are always so nice and ready to come down on prices before you can even ask.
Here's just a few of the items throughout the flea market
The Kingsley House ~ built in 1843
It's very pretty inside. It's set up the way a home would have looked in the mid 1800's.
Alexander Blue House ~ built in the mid 1800's
I don't know if you can go inside this building. It sure is pretty on the outside though!
I love these old milk bottles ~ I'm not sure if $12 each is a good price, but they're neat and would look so cute in a farmhouse-style kitchen.
I bought the tin in the far left corner that says Washburn Crosby Co. for $4.
This metal basket was my favorite purchase of the day for $10 marked down from $20.
I also bought some old laundry pins and a toy tea set
I went in with a $140, but I just couldn't find a lot that I wanted to buy this time. I only spent $20 dollars total. Not bad at all. It's not that there weren't a ton of cute things to buy, it's just that my shopping is a bit stunted at the moment.
See, my husband and I are moving once again. God has graciously provided my husband with a teaching job back home. We've been gone for two years and had finally come to terms with living here on the east side of the state. We recently found a wonderful church family and we were getting to know some lovely new friends here.We never thought that we would get to go back to our wonderful hometown of Grand Rapids. We will be moving in a few short weeks here and packing needs to begin soon! We're putting almost everything we own in storage and living with family while looking to buy a house. This is truly a dream come true and an answer to many prayers. It's a very exciting time for us. God is so good!
The Shaw House ~ built in 1843
I always enjoy this event so much. Seeing all of the old buildings and steping back in time is just beautiful! I've so enjoyed every visit I've had there. The employees and volunteers do such an amazing job. I'm so grateful that there are people that care so much about preserving the past. Getting to shop for antiques while seeing all of this is such a lovely way to spend an afternoon!
Thanks so much to cousin Jillia who spent the day with me enjoying all the antiques!
