Nursery Project# 7 ~ Furniture Painting

Hello, dear friends!

I'm finally going to post the rest of my nursery projects in the coming weeks. It's been a long time coming so here goes ~

I bought the side table specifically for the nursery. This is the only piece of furniture that I had to buy for the room. I already had everything else.

I bought the rocking chair a few years ago at an antique store on the east side of the state for less than $30. It used to go in our living room.

I bought this rocking chair bench quite a few years ago for the antique booth that I used to have. A friend kept this for me over the years for her little girl to use until I would have a girl of my own.

The table ~

Two coats of my mix of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint ~ Old White and Provence

I then waxed the table with clear wax and then dark wax.

I won this beautiful stencil in a blog contest that Karin from Art is Beauty, had last year. You can visit her blog here. I've been saving it for a special occasion. I don't think that there's anything more special than Olivia's nursery! The stencil is from Maison De Stencils. You can visit their website here. There were so many great stencils to choose from it took me a few days to decide!

I painted over the stencil in Old White

I just did the one coat of Old White

I simply rubbed over the painted stencil part with a rag that had both clear wax and a little dark wax on it, I really like the color that turned out.

The Rocking Bench ~

I painted the bench with the last of my sample pot of Provence.

I then painted over it with two coats of Old White. I distressed the piece with sand paper until the Provence color underneath showed on all of the edges and sides of the piece.

(I had some up close pictures of the bench but they were lost when my camera broke).

I only used clear wax on this piece and I love how it turned out.

That was one long week of painting! I love painting furniture but it was a bit much after awhile.

Have a wonderful day!

*UPDATE: I have only recently learned that expectant mothers should not apply soft wax themselves. Even though my baby is perfectly fine I should not have done so and I really tried to do a lot of research beforehand to see if it was safe or not and could not find any information at the time.
