Burlap Leaf Banner ~

Hello, dear friends!

Here's a little tutorial on how I made my burlap leaf banner for my fall mantel

I got the inspiration for my leaf banner from a local greenhouse. Their banner  was a bit pricey and I wanted to try my hand at making my own version anyway.

I found a free leaf pdf through a link on Pinterest

You'll also need:

Burlap
Wire
Floral tape
A Sharpie
Glue Gun
Scissors

I traced the leaf design on pieces of burlap from a runner that a friend gave me (You can't beat free)

Lots and lots of stenciling

I cut out 40 leaves

My hand was pretty cramped after all that

This was day 1 ~ I do my crafts these days at nap time
In Mama speak ~ This project took me three days worth of  naps. Back in the day it would have taken me a few hours in one sitting.

After all my leaves were cut, I wrapped the wire with green floral tape

I then hot glued the wrapped wire and placed two leaves together. I hot glued the leaves after securing the wire vine. I used a total of 36 leaves for my mantel.

My banner hanging in place ~ I love it!

A closer look at the finished product.
The wire holds up very well instead of using jute string, which is one of the things I considered using. I should be able to use this over the years, going with the wire like option like the leaf banner I originally saw at the store.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to make your own leaf banner. Please send a picture as well of your finished project. I would love to see what you come up with.

Happy fall!

Wonderful banner. Anything with burlap is fantastic. Free burlap is even better. You chose a pretty leaf pattern--it's so realistic looking.
