Easter 2015

Hello, dear friends!

Easter is upon us tomorrow morning and I can't help but think back to Easters of the past and get a little sentemental thinking about this special holiday.
My parents really did a great job of celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was a holiday second only to Christmas. My four sisters and I got a new Easter dress every year, a basket full of candy (always with a present in it), egg coloring Saturday evening (the smell of vinegar from dying the eggs still reminds me of Easter to this day), a big breakfast at church on Sunday morning, and then a wonderful dinner back at home of Cornish hens, ham, or roast. Whatever it was that given year, it was always delicious!
I remember almost everyone made such a big deal of Easter! People wore their best and prettiest clothes and hair was always done in a special way. For us, it was curly hair with rollers or rags to mark the special occasion. Also, big ribbons in our hair or even hats. Anyway, I hope to be able to carry on many of the same traditions for my family and make a big deal out of this holiday. The most imortant part always being Christ at the center of it and celebrating what he did for us on the cross.

He is risen!

Lots of bunnies

A personal update: I'm 25 weeks today!

I never posted a pregnancy profile picture like this while I was pregnant with Olivia so this is brand new for me (ha ha). We're not telling the name this time like we did last time with Olivia Grace.

Anyway, on to the eating area ~

I don't want to just decorate for me anymore, I also want this to be a fun holiday for our kids! A bright Easter egg table cloth and easter egg centerpiece  has been so fun this year!

Olivia Grace - 21 months

Whenever I take pictures of the house, Olivia shows up and starts yelling "CHEESE," because she's so used to my taking pictures of her all the time. This is her new pose with the arms crossed (so cute)!

I let her take the eggs out and play with them at the table (I help her of course). She loves it!

The new pose again

Even the kitchen has bunnies in a few places

On to the living room...

The piano is so fun to decorate although I can't wait until I can paint it white and make it look prettier one of these days!

My Easter mantel this year is very simple but I really like how it turned out!

I love the carrots I bought last year for Olivia's Beatrix Potter themed birthday party

This bunny was from the party too

The painting is one that my Mom did years ago and I really like it over the mantel right now!

I spent some of the morning taking pictures of the house...

This evening I got Olivia's Easter basket ready

Her new outfit and shoes are all ready for the church service in the morning

My first attempt at dying eggs the old fashioned way with food coloring, boiling water, and vinegar turned out okay.

The blue turned out so pretty but the purple turned out brown with blue flecks...

I may just do one of those egg dye kits next year. It was fun though mixing the colors like I used to do when I was little.

"And the angel answered and said unto the woman, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus which is crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

Matthew 28: 5 & 6

Easter Morning ~

She loved the brightly colored eggs!

She clapped when she saw her beautiful butterfly dress

Her Easter basket was a big hit

A great family picture!

You have made such a wonderful home for your little family, Jamie. This post brings back many fond memories of my own childhood Easters. Olivia will cherish her memories, as well. Dying eggs, a pretty new dress, and a special day at church, she'll remember it all. Your home is so beautiful. I remember like yesterday when you first moved there! So much has happened, hasn't it? You look fabulous, and I love your profile photo. Happy May Day! :)
